Parents of pupils in year 4 who'd like their child to attend a middle school from September 2026 must apply for a school place.
The closing date for parents to apply for a place for their child has now passed.
However, you can still apply for a middle school place for your child.
Please note, late applications and changes of preference will not be considered in the initial allocation of places.
If you are submitting the form to change your preference(s) and we are able to allocate one of the schools you have stated on your form, the school your child was originally allocated will immediately be withdrawn and re-allocated to another child.
Making an application using the education portal
You must register to the online application system if you haven't used it in the previous years.
Once you've completed the registration, you'll be able to access the system using the login details you've used this year for any future online applications you wish to make.
If your child has not been educated in a Luton school, you'll need to upload their birth certificate.
You must read the checklist before submitting your application.
Please note: you must provide any additional documents/supporting information direct to the relevant local authority and/or the school(s) you are applying for.
Documentation sent to Luton’s Admissions Team will not be forwarded on to the relevant local authority and/or school.
To find out whether you need to complete additional forms and for further information on the middle school application process, you must contact the relevant local authority’s Admissions Team.
The outcome for late applications and changes of preference for the middle school transfer will be sent to parents when a decision has been received from the relevant council.
Please note: the education portal can be used to apply online for a middle school place and to keep up to date with any changes you make to your application.
After the closing date, an update on the school your child has been allocated can be seen on the portal from 16 April 2026.

The completed application form must be posted/scanned to the Admissions team.
